Fast and reliable testing for sexually transmitted diseases – STD/STI test

Home plattform res 1294x1438

At our urology practice, we offer you the opportunity to be tested for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs/STIs) within a few hours.

Testing is carried out directly at our practice using the Bosch Vivalytic System and the new VIRPLEX MiniLab from Vircell.

These innovative technologies enable a multiplex PCR analysis to be carried out in a short time, allowing several pathogens causing sexually transmitted infections to be detected simultaneously.

Results are available after approximately 3 hours.

You no longer have to wait up to a week for your results, as was previously the case, but will find out within a few hours whether you have an infection and how it can be treated effectively. This provides rapid certainty and may spare you from otherwise unnecessary antibiotic treatment and its side effects.

The advantages of multiplex PCR analysis lie in its high sensitivity and specificity. This means that the test can detect even the smallest amounts of pathogens and that the likelihood of false-positive or false-negative results is very low.

How can this be tested?

The STI test is carried out simply using a urine sample (first morning urine)

A swab from the genital area, or a urethral swab

Ejaculate sample to rule out infections of the prostate, seminal vesicles and testicles caused by infectious agents.

Our PCR systems can directly identify up to 15 pathogens, as well as resistance genes, and thus offer the widest range of multiplex analyses currently available:

  • Chlamydia trachomatis (chlamydia)
  • Chlamydia trachomatis serovar L (LGV)
  • MGE macrolide resistance (58mut and 59mut)
  • Ureaplasma parvum
  • Mpox virus (monkeypox virus)
  • Neisseria gonorrhoeae (gonorrhoea)
  • Trichomonas vaginalis (trichomonads)
  • Mycoplasma genitalium (mycoplasma)
  • Treponema pallidum
  • Mycoplasma hominis
  • Ureaplasma urealyticum (ureaplasma)
  • Haemophilus ducreyi
  • Herpes simplex virus I
  • Herpes simplex virus II (genital herpes)

Where can I get tested?

The test will take place at the private urology practice at Bleichenbrücke 10 in Hamburg. Please book an appointment by phone or online.

Can I get tested anonymously?

If requested, the findings can, of course, be pseudonymised.

When will I receive my test results?

The analysis takes 2 to 3 hours. As soon as the results are available, we will send them to you electronically. If treatment is required, we will arrange it for you immediately.

Can I also get tested for other sexually transmitted infections?

Of course, other conditions (e.g. hepatitis, HIV, syphilis) can be tested for via a blood test. We will advise you on this on an individual basis.

How much do the tests cost?

Private health insurance providers usually cover the full cost. For those insured under the statutory health insurance scheme, the test is a self-pay service and is billed in accordance with the German Scale of Medical Fees (GOÄ). The cost of a full PCR analysis is approximately 250–300 euros. Additional costs may apply depending on the scope of any further tests. We will be happy to advise you transparently on all applicable costs in advance.

Would you like to get tested?

We recommend that you get tested for sexually transmitted infections on a regular basis if you have multiple sexual partners. It is also often advisable to seek medical advice if you suffer from recurrent urinary tract infections, occasional burning in the urethra, or persistent symptoms in the pelvic area.
